November Sunrise with Wildlife, 48th Street, VB

A beautiful fall sunrise is the setting for a tight little troop of Sanderlings, foraging their way along the surf  as the building light paints the clouds and reflects off the wet sand and water. Watching the synchronized antics of these tiny birds is another of the Beach's pleasures we enjoy...

It is hard to imagine, though, as we watch them take their rapid, tiny steps, that they have seen more of the world than most people... These little Sandpipers, Calidris alba, travel to the High Arctic to nest in the summer, move down along our coast through the fall, where they may stay the winter, or drift as far south as the West Indies, then range back up the coast in the spring... All the while living on fresh seafood and enjoying the Daily Show that Nature provides...

Now, what was it you'd like to be reincarnated as, again? lol...
