Seas 'n Trees... blues 'n greens...

Because the Natural World is Awesome...

New images mostly every day, fresh from Virginia Beach... featuring Sunrises and the Magic that happens where the Sky, the Surf, and the Sand collide and mix into that Mystical State we call the Beach...
So, sit back and enjoy the view... although all the Elements are the same, they mix in entirely different and exciting ways every day... if you can't actually be on the Beach, I'll show you how it was...

Cool Plants at First Landing Park, 4.8.12

Located on sandy dunes behind Cape Henry,
First Landing is a Maritime Forest,
growing around freshwater ponds
and SaltMarsh and Tidal Estuaries...
Here's some of the plants that caught our eye
on an Easter bike ride...

Partridge Berry, Mitchella repens...

One of the Low Blueberries...

Freshly emerged Ferns are always so lovely...

A low, boggy spot supported this colony of Cattails,
last year's punks are about to fall apart and scatter their seed...

Trumpet Honeysuckle, Lonicera sempervirens,
is much better behaved than it's sprawling
Japanese cousin, and is a favorite of
passing Hummingbirds...

A colony of Arrowroot emerges from
Winter's rest in a Cypress bog...

Knee formations of Bald Cypress in the swamp...
