Seas 'n Trees... blues 'n greens...

Because the Natural World is Awesome...

New images mostly every day, fresh from Virginia Beach... featuring Sunrises and the Magic that happens where the Sky, the Surf, and the Sand collide and mix into that Mystical State we call the Beach...
So, sit back and enjoy the view... although all the Elements are the same, they mix in entirely different and exciting ways every day... if you can't actually be on the Beach, I'll show you how it was...

Jack in a Yak Off North Beach, VB, 9.2.12

The Escape Pod was ready at Dawn...
down at the Beach today...
I pushed through the Morning Surf...
and cleared the Breakers...
Free from the trappings of the Land...
my arms, not my legs...
took me where i wanted to go...
a nice change of pace...
I slipped quietly across the Sea's face...
 and spun the Kayak around...
drinking in the Morning Show...
and deciding where to go...

Seagulls were thick over a small patch of Ocean...
wheeling and diving in the distance...
feeding on the bait something was driving from the depths...
They were almost a mile up the Beach...
and the Mayhem had ceased...
when i arrived...
But the Birds were sitting on the water...
waiting...
and i did the same...

And soon there were splashes and boils and baitfish trying to fly...
A few paddle strokes got me close enough to cast...
Almost immediately my rod bowed up...
and an unseen adversary tried to take it away...
Three pound Bluefish, i thought...
but when the fish finally came to hand it was a small Jack Crevalle...
a Florida fish that rode the warm currents north...
for a late Summer raid on the local baitfish...

The hard pulling Jacks were plentiful...
and i spent a couple of exiting hours chasing them...
across the sea...
just like the Birds...
We had a blast...
