Seas 'n Trees... blues 'n greens...

Because the Natural World is Awesome...

New images mostly every day, fresh from Virginia Beach... featuring Sunrises and the Magic that happens where the Sky, the Surf, and the Sand collide and mix into that Mystical State we call the Beach...
So, sit back and enjoy the view... although all the Elements are the same, they mix in entirely different and exciting ways every day... if you can't actually be on the Beach, I'll show you how it was...

Yakkity Yak at 47th Street, VB, 9.1.13

The Sun came up...
down at the Beach today...
But...
for a change...
i didn't see it...
Instead...
i watched it...
come over the Pines...
as i paddled...
and fished...
on Crystal Lake...
a Lagoon...
in the Lynnhaven River System...
A Culvert/Drainage Ditch...
rebuilding project...
provided access...
to the Lagoon...
No parking there...
so the wheels...
went on the Yak...
and a ten minute walk...
got me there...
Wheels off and...
Fishin' Rods assembled...
it's into the Ditch...
and out to the Lake...

Nice to be back...
in the Yak...
Gliding silently...
across New Waters...
in Discovery Mode...
How deep is it...
What kind of bottom...
Where's the Oysters...
and the Snails...
How far back...
does this Cove go...
Nice Grasslines...
Old Stone Walls...
over there...

Peanut Bunkers...
baby Menhaden...
were abundant...
swimming in patches...
on the surface...
Fish weren't bothering them...
yet...
but the Gulls...
were skimming...
and diving...
on the schools...

About a mile...
or two...
up the Lake...
brought me to...
familiar Waters...
Rainey Gut...
up in...
First Landing Park...
where i often...
ride my Bike...
and sometimes fish...

Big Dragonfly...
out on the Dock...

Just outside the Gut...
is The Narrows...
and the main channel...
It's a Circus out there...
on a Holiday Weekend...
so i turned around...
and headed back...
into my new...
Playground...
